Why You Have To Be Tough (or a Little Nuts) to Work In A Restaurant.
My
Restaurant Experiences:
You know you are doing your job well when others have no idea how bad things are going.
Below is a list of some of the more interesting true stories that happened while I worked in the restaurant industry. Admittedly, some are expected, like a "dine and dash", others, however, are in a league of their own (**).
- · Cook cutting the end of his finger completely off.**
 - · Customer with steak knife chasing a server through restaurant.**
 - · Bus person assaulting a server after closing.**
 - · Dishwasher assaulting a server in the kitchen.**
 - · Sexual assault victim at restaurant door seeking assistance.**
 - · Shrink – food loss, fraudulent refunds/deletions/comps, shorted cash-outs, broken dinnerware…
 - · Attendance – servers clocking in missing or late servers.
 - · Rodent and insect control.
 - · Slips and falls.
 - · Customers having drinks and food spilled on them accidentally by me and other servers.**
 - · Dine and Dash customers.
 - · Intoxicated customers being allowed into restaurant, disrupting guests, then getting sick everywhere.**
 - · Woman punching out her date at the table.**
 - Being invited to a guest's hotel room for an additional tip.**
 - · Young woman’s panties discovered under a table.**
 - · Stolen tips from tables.
 - · Rear exit doors being propped open, or left unlocked.
 - · Dishwasher mixing chemicals to clear clogged drain, ammonia cloud cleared a full restaurant.**
 - · Bomb threat that cleared busy Saturday night crowd from restaurant.**
 - · Out of control after-hours staff parties.**
