Escape Manor: General Manager Cover Letter

To Whom It May Concern:
Re: General Manager (Puzzle Team Leader and Head
Cheerleader)
Oh yeah, that’s the
look we want when our clients realize their predicament.
Now, the fun part begins! Will they solve the problem as a
team, or fall to pieces? The solution always relies in team work.
“Leadership is a
process, not a position”, John C. Maxwell, The 5 Levels of Leadership.
I firmly believe in the statement above. As a new property
manager, of two large commercial properties, I inherited operational
inefficiencies and low staff morale from the previous management team. One of
first tasks was to gain the trust and
support of the staff. Part of the solution was to create Policies and Procedures that had not existed.
These new guidelines clearly stated how the business was to
operate, the function and responsibility
of each team member, including myself. It also outlined new benefits, and a
future plan.
Secondly, I held a staff meeting. Some employees had been
there 14 years and never had a meeting before.
I outlined the Policies and Procedures including new Performance Measures for the staff and
management. We were going to be accountable
and motivated.
Lastly, to gain full acceptance, action was required. Everyone had a new start; however, it did not
take long for under-achieving employees to come to my attention. Warnings were
documented and terminations took place. One-on-one meetings were held and goals discussed.
I also organized a co-operative
with a local community group to help care for nearby bike and nature trails.
This helped our business become more inclusive in the community.

How can I help Escape Manor grow? Here are a couple of
thoughts:
- Create a Sherlock Holmes-type of puzzle with a cross-promotion with Haunted Walks, Ottawa.
- Design an escape from an Alien attack.
- Murder mysteries escape with a partnership with a Murder Mysteries company.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to
sharing additional ideas.
