The Audition: When Was the Last Time You Felt Freedom?
I had the wonderful opportunity to audition for an upcoming independent feature film, Colors of Love.
The audition style was loose and basically unscripted. We were allowed to use the script as a guideline, and develop our characters from that blueprint. That type of free licence allowed the actors to try several personalities. Some were absolutely hilarious!
The lack of a tight structure permits one to utilize their imagination, something we tend to forget about. The experience was like taking a step back in time. Pretending like we did as children. No rules, no restrictions, no criticism. Just fun! We played off one another. Improvisation.
So, if you want to feel that kind of freedom, again, I would suggest you participate in an audition. Have fun. Be a kid all over again. The experience will allow you to stretch yourself with no consequences or strings attached.
